Alumni AssociationPublic Health Alumni AssociationThe UC Berkeley Public Health Alumni Association was established in 1953 to promote good fellowship and community among public health alumni and students of UC Berkeley, and to also promote mutual help and communication leading to the improvement in professional work among UC Berkeley's public health alumni, in concert with the mission of the School of Public Health. The association is led by a volunteer board of directors, which consists of 16 elected alumni directors, four of whom are officers; one non-elective director appointed by the dean; the dean as an ex-officio board member; and two student representatives appointed by the school's student body. In addition to regularly scheduled board meetings which occur throughout the academic year, there are several standing and ad hoc committees, such as scholarship, events and nominating, that also meet regularly. Through the work of the board and its committees, the Public Health Alumni Association sponsors a series of programs and activities which benefit students, promote fellowship in public health and help to maintain linkages both between the school and its 6,500 active alumni. To learn more about the association, you may contact the School of Public Health's Office of External Relations by phone (510 643-6382) or via e-mail, phaa@berkeley.edu. |
