M-CHAMP—(Available to second year students)The goal of the UCB Maternal and Child Health Alumni Mentorship Program (M-CHAMP) is to provide students with the opportunity to develop their professional skills outside of the classroom, and to explore real-world public health settings and situations to help them begin to build a professional network. The program works by pairing a current MCH student with an alumnus or MCH Advisory Board Member. The student and the alumnus are matched based on mutual interests and the mentor’s expertise. The mentor-student relationship is informal, with monthly contact in person, via phone or email. This gives alumni a way to remain connected to the MCH program, and to “give back” to the MCH Community in a tangible way by offering their expertise and insights about the field to new professionals.
