As an undergraduate student at Bryn Mawr College, she became interested in public health and interned one summer at the Samata Health Study, a women’s reproductive health project in her hometown of Bangalore, India. After graduating with a major in Biology in 2006, she returned to Bangalore and worked as Field Coordinator with the same project. This experience sparked her interest in issues of gender and the social and cultural factors impacting women’s reproductive health choices. In January 2009, she moved to Lesotho for six months to intern with the Lesotho Boston Health Alliance on projects related to the strengthening of health systems in the country. She was actively involved in the implementation of a pilot rollout of the HPV vaccination program for girls between ages 9-18 in two districts of the country. In her free time she likes practicing yoga with friends and traveling. Most recently, she spent two weeks in South Africa touring Cape Town and experiencing a walking safari in the bush in Kruger National Park. She will be starting her first year of the 2-year MPH program. |
