Sarah Ismail

Sarah Ismail is a first year student in the 2-year MCH program. She received her BS in Molecular Environmental Biology, BA in Public Health and minor in Forestry from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007.  As an undergrad, she was very intrigued by the field of public health and spent her time volunteering and working with health-oriented student organizations. After graduation, Sarah moved to Egypt for a year where she visited family, traveled and worked at the Population Council's Cairo office on the FRONTIERS for reproductive health program. She also worked with UCSF briefly on the Non-Pneumatic Anti-Shock Garment study in Egypt. After working in Egypt with women and children, Sarah knew for certain that this is what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Most recently, she has worked as a Medical Arabic-English interpreter and spends her time volunteering with Refugee Transitions, an organization that assists new refugees in becoming self-sufficient in the USA.  In her spare time, Sarah enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, cooking and the arts.
