Sarah Kagan

Sarah Kagan is in her first year of the two-year program with a focus on international maternal and child health. Sarah is particularly interested in supporting community-led health efforts in traditionally marginalized communities.  Prior to attending Berkeley, Sarah worked as Pacific Environment’s Communications Manager to ensure that corporations and governments respect communities’ environmental rights to decide when, how and which public resources are used.  Sarah also volunteers with San Francisco Women Against Rape (SFWAR) as a rape crisis counselor. In her work with SFWAR, she gives crisis support on their hotline, provides medical accompaniment for survivors at San Francisco General Hospital, teaches sexual assault classes in local high schools, participates in fundraising initiatives and acts as a spokesperson for SFWAR’s services at community events.  Prior to joining Pacific Environment, Sarah worked with Global Exchange’s Development Department. Sarah holds a BA in Anthropology and Political Science from the University of Michigan.
